Take a little time for yourself and take part in Hull and East Yorkshire Mind’s Self Care Selfie Week

By November 7, 2017No Comments

During this year’s Self Care Week (13th-19th of November), Hull and East Yorkshire Mind want to encourage you to take time out to look after yourself. Self-care is key to good mental health, but can often be overlooked due to the busy and fast-paced nature of the modern world.

Their campaign is simple- during this year’s Self Care Week, the charity is encouraging people to do something to look after their mental wellbeing, take a selfie and share it using #selfcareselfie. They hope that this will spread the word that it’s important to stop and take a little time for yourself. Not used to putting yourself first? Here are a few ideas:

  • Have a soak in the bath instead of a rushed shower
  • Settle down with a good book or magazine
  • Talk a walk in the autumn air
  • Watch your favourite film again

Katie McCreaddie, Hull and East Yorkshire Mind’s community fundraiser and a passionate mental health campaigner said ‘Often people say that they don’t have the time for self-care, but very simply, you have to make the time. It is vital that we all do things that make us feel good and help us to recuperate from the stresses and strains of everyday life.’

So what makes you feel good and helps you to relax? Start thinking about what you could do this Self Care Week and don’t forget to share your #selfcareselfie.
