Can you support our ‘You Matter’ project for men experiencing suicidal thoughts?

By October 11, 2018No Comments

This peer support group has been helping men to change their lives over the last year, and has been nominated for the Hull Daily Mail Health and Care awards. But our funding runs out soon, so we need your help to continue to support men to improve their mental health and save lives. It costs £30,000 a year to run the project and any help you can give will make a big impact on the lives of the men we work with.

John, who has been attending the group, said: “If it wasn’t for Hull and East Yorkshire Mind and the hard work Dan puts into this workshop, I don’t think I would be here now.”

Suicide has become the leading cause of death for men aged 35-49. Over the past 30 years, the number of men taking their own lives in the UK and the Republic of Ireland has risen by a staggering 82 per cent.

Founded by Dan Francis, the 12-week ‘You Matter’ course helps men struggling with their mental health. The course focuses on treatment, talking and acceptance.
