Hull and East Yorkshire Mind Thanks Hull’s Lord Mayor for his choice as Charity of the Year

By May 26, 2016No Comments

At today’s installation ceremony, the Lord Mayor of Hull announced his charities for the year, one of which is to be Hull and East Yorkshire Mind.

Hull and East Yorkshire Mind has welcomed this announcement- both in anticipation of the fundraising, but also as it raises the profile of mental health as something for all of us to take an interest in.

Vanessa Walker, Chair of Trustees at Hull and East Yorkshire Mind, said “I want to thank Councillor Chaytor for choosing Hull and East Yorkshire Mind as one of his charities this year. One in four people at any one time is experiencing a problem with their mental health- in Hull that’s over 64,000 people.

“It’s so important that there is help available for people when they need it. Being one of the Lord Mayor’s charities will help us to get the message across that it’s good to talk about mental health, as well as raising much-needed funds for us to be able to continue our work.”

“I wish Councillor Chaytor a good year as Lord Mayor of Hull, and look forward to working with him to promote good mental health throughout the year.”
